Who wants to be a Superhero?

Have you watched this on the Sci Fi channel? If you haven't it is on on Thursday nights at 9 pm. At 8 they play the episode from the previous week in case you missed it. No reality show can ever be as good as the first season IMHO. All the contestants are watchful for the tricks they saw played to the first set of characters. They still get tripped up, though, it can't be helped. It is interesting to watch to say the least. You have to stand true to yourself and to what you believe, though. It may not carry you through to the prize at the end, but you can at least feel good about yourself for holding to what you believe right?

Watching the show now into its second season has made me think about what kind of character I would create as a super hero. What traits to I most admire about the comic heroes available. What can I aspire to, and what traits do I want my children to see in me and emulate? It is a soul searching question to say the least. My husband is the comic guy to say the least. I only know the main credos of a few super heroes and those only because of the movies that have been made of them. Spiderman has been wildly popular since the movie was released but my husband has been a fan since he was a child. He said he felt a kind of kinship to the character because his own father wasn't there to give the guidance a boy needs as he grows up. It makes me reflect on the role models I had in my own life. I was lucky enough to have parents who were there when I needed them. They may not have given me what I wanted all the time, but that is their decision as parents. And reflecting on them makes me go back to that question of am I living up to being the role model that my own children need?

So I ask myself, in creating a super hero what traits do I think need to be the central features? This is definately going to take some thinking to say the least!! It may take me a few days to work through this. More to come later.

And my nominees for rockin' girl bloggers are...

Shellie at My scraps of life,
Aka Korin at Inky Doodle,
Anso at Glitter Adventure,
Meredith at All that and a bucket of chicken,
Shellie at Whimical musings,
Michelle at Living life in color,
Jen
Denean

I love your blogs ladies! I have found something on all of them that totally inspires me. Thank you all so much. For those ladies that I didn't put on this list, it was more due to the fact that you were on Ambers list and I didn't think you would really appreciate doing this all over again! lol

Last 2 Random facts

Random Fact #7:
I was raised by a woman who made almost everything from scratch, even her sweetend and condensed milk when she needed to, so I absolutely adore a good homemade meal. It takes lots of time and energy to make a full meal, but it is so worth it when it is done. I hope that making meals from scratch is something my children will pick up on and enjoy doing as well some day.

Random Fact #8:
As much as I enjoy writing, I am not a good story teller. I get tripped up trying to add in the details. I can give you a thousand ideas for stories but I will never be able to turn any of them into the novels they could be.

Random Facts 5 and 6

Random Fact #5:
I am a chocoholic (I know, what woman isn't!) but, unfortunately, having more than 4 hersheys kisses give me a migraine!! SO not fair!!

Random Fact #6:
I am a pack rat. I came to the realization of how bad it actually is last weekend when I was folding tissue paper and packing it away neatly in a gift box "in case I need it for something". I need someone to come and help me purge!!

Random Facts 3 and 4

Random Fact #3:
I am such a fan of certain sci fi shows that I was terribly disappointed when my little sister deleted a photo off her camera of a certain actors hand. I had planned to do a page with it called missed opportunities. lol I had taken a photo of him as he walked past me, but her camera was touchy and didn't snap the photo as quickly as mine so I only got his hand due to movement. What a bummer!

Random Fact #4:
I can't help but sit down at the computer at least a dozen times a day to at least check my email and my favorite websites. I may not email anyone or post anything, but I have to see what everyone has been doing online. Yes everyone, I'M WATCHING YOU. lol

Rockin' Girl Blogger

I got tagged!! Thanks Amber!! Making me think! I will post my nominees for bloggers at the end of the day I think. May take me that long to post that many random facts!!

Photobucket

Here's the deal: post the rules,
1. each person tagged must post 8 random(... hopefully interesting) facts about themselves
2. those tagged should write a blog post of these facts
3. at the end of the post, 8 more bloggers are tagged and named
4. go to their blog and leave a comment telling them they're tagged.

So here it goes.

Random Fact 1:
My parents were teachers for the Bureau of Indian Affairs in Alaska until 1989 when I turned 12. So while I may have been born in Pennsylvania, everything about me really wants to call Alaska home. From what my mom once told me that I spoke Eskimo before I actually learned to speak English, but now I can barely count to 10 or give a simple basic greeting in the language!

Random Fact 2:
I like my coffee with half and half or creamer, cinnamon, vanilla and 2 splendas, sometimes with a healthy dose of chocolate. I like my tea with 3 splendas and milk. The best tea I have ever had comes from Anchorage, Alaska. It is an orange spice tea that they called samovar when I was a kid. My mom brought me 1/4 lb of it after her last trip to Alaska and I have been nursing it for the past 2 years to make it last!

My first workshop project

I found this cute little purse as I was peeking at another blog. I took some liberties with her template directions and added my own card style. And I am totally loving the end result!! Of course, this was a first attempt and I am now looking at it thinking I should have added this here and that there, but hey, still awful darn cute!!
